Aiyana Gunjan (b.1970, Allahabad) is a self-taught artist whose creative instincts were nurtured from an early childhood in a culturally-rich family environment. The guidance of her gurus – Shobha Broota in painting, Anis Siddiqui in calligraphy and Subrata De in Sitar-Indian Classical Music – has imparted her with a multifaceted personality. In addition, fuelled by a deep interest in philosophy and spirituality, Aiyana explores the deeper perspective of life through her creative work. Her exploration in the spiritual dimension and abstract expression of the calligraphy letters has taken a distinct direction, wherein she has elevated the ancient traditional form of calligraphy into the universal language of contemporary abstract art. Aiyana has participated in several international exhibitions in India and abroad.
Aiyana Gunjan did her schooling from Modern School, Barakhamba Road, B.A.(Hons.) in Economics from Lady Sri Ram college and Masters in Business Economics (MBE) from Delhi University. She has established herself as a Brand & Semiotics Consultant with over 18 years of experience in the strategic planning function in the advertising industry (at Ogilvy and JWT, and as Head of the Planning function at Mudra, Bates-141, Dentsu and Law & Kenneth). She is a member of Academy of Visual Media (AOVM) and FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO).

Aiyana Gunjan works as an independent consultant in strategic brand planning and semiotics and brings Brand & Cultural Intelligence into the marketing/brand interventions. She follows an incisive strategic approach towards the brand development process. Aiyana has been at the helm of pioneering work in the specialized field of Semiotics, impacting global-local strategies. She has tracked the socio-cultural shifts and patterns in India across the two decades.
Aiyana has more than 18 years experience in the strategic planning function in the advertising industry (at Ogilvy and JWT, and as Head of the Planning function at Mudra, Bates-141,Dentsu and Law & Kenneth). She is also a self taught Artist-Calligrapher.

Aiyana is an independent Semiotician, representing Indian market on global projects. Aiyana collaborates with the International network of cultural experts, to bring cross-cultural perspective on the project. She has worked on several International projects like J&J, Pepsico-Gatorade, Nokia, AstraZeneca, with UK companies (Space Doctors, Truth Consulting, & Visual Signo). Aiyana spearheaded the Ford Car Foundational Framework Project in India for Team Detroit (WPP)- Ford Motors, USA., (in collaboration with Visual Signo,UK).
She has attended the Global Semiotics Conference, SemioFest, London 2012, Barcelona 2013;, Shanghai 2014; Workshop by Monty Alexander & Virginia, Mumbai, 2005; Design & Semiotics Workshop, Barcelona 2013.
Aiyana Gunjan has done path breaking work in decoding the intrinsic relationship between Artist, Art and Culture in her paper – Strokes of Devotion- Semiotics of Desmond Lazaro’s Art. Currently, she is working on her research paper, decoding the cultural foundational framework of the International township – Semiotics of Auroville Culture. This paper opens the eye to the new consciousness, evolving the City of Dawn, centered in Human Unity, cutting across cultures and nationalities. In her Pondy coLab, Aiyana has evolved the Identity Foundational Model, rooted in cultural coding.
