The Moving Finger,  a debut Solo Show by Aiyana Gunjan,

Curated by Dr. Alka Pande

Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

23rd-27th October, 2015

“The Moving Finger writes, and having writ, moves on; nor all thy Piety nor Wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line nor all thy Tears will wash out a Word of it

This verse by Omar Khayyam captures the very essence of my inner journey in life, art and calligraphy. My work is an act of surrendering to the intuitive flow of life, where the Mind is the humble servant. This has been my intimate dialogue with the Supreme Creator.

I salute, I celebrate the three thousand realms- the past, the present, the future, in One Single Moment, in time. My art, so fine, stroke by stroke, moving forward, has centered me in the Now – Here,Or else I am nowhere.

I paint not to decorate walls but to break the walls within. Art truly transcends boundaries. It gives me great happiness to have you all present here with me, crossing boundaries in space and time.

Dr. Radha Krishna quotes – “The Mentor lives on the in the deeds of the disciple.”

My first Solo Show is a tribute to the spirit of guru-shishya parampara. My deepest gratitude and respect to my Gurus, Shobha Broota and Anis Siddique, who have shown me the Light within. When you stand up with determination, all the forces in the universe come together to make it happen. It is a fallacy to call solo show solo. This Show would not have been possible without the guidance and unstinting support of Dr Alka Pande, Mrs. Ratan Kaul, Divesh Nath, Rajesh Chand, Poonam Goel and the Visual Arts Gallery Team.

I quote from Nicheren Daishonin’s Gosho –

“More valuable than treasures in a storehouse are the treasures of the body, and the treasures of the heart are the most valuable of all” It’s the faith, love and support of all my loved one, who have empowered me to be ME. I take the opportunity to thank each of you for having walked this journey with me.

And that’s what makes life so beautiful.
