Brahmified notes to myself : In the realm of parental loss, ‘Moving On’ is an alien concept. Each day, I move with MaPa within, transcending the past. They exist in my present and future, their form transformed from physical to spiritual.
My moving finger finds strength, joy, and peace with every stroke on this Nepalese paper, a gem discovered while clearing drawers (gifted to my sister by a school friend). The elegance of this handmade paper moves me. My ‘secret code,’ derived from the Brahmi script of the 4th century BC, becomes a personal, intimate dialogue with my parents through the words I pen.
I marvel at the exquisite beauty of Nepalese paper. Writing with pen and ink on handmade paper often poses a challenge as the ink tends to blot, dulling the precision of calligraphy. Skepticism surrounded my choice of this sheer Nepalese paper notebook, wary of potential blotting and ink seepage onto the next pages. Yet, my irresistible desire to write with my qalam, dipped in ink, on this fine handmade paper took over. To my utmost surprise, the experience was magical! Not a single blot, no ink seeping through to the next page—each calligraphy stroke remained sharp and clear. I couldn’t believe my eyes; page after page, my qalam danced with my heart in joyous abandon. The cherry on top awaited on the reverse side—the strokes shining through the sheer finesse of the Nepalese paper. A marvel on both sides.
Page after page, I write words that bind me to MaPa, and the flow is remarkably calming. This notebook stands as a Brahmified tribute, where letters take form and flow, symbolizing my spiritual connection with MaPa.
